How to Get Your Police Clearance Certificate Online for Free
Are you applying for a visa, a new job, or planning to move abroad? If so, a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)—often called a "Police Report"—is likely at the top of your checklist.
To simplify services for citizens, the Nepal Police has made the entire process digital. You can now apply from the comfort of your home, and most importantly, the service is completely free of charge.
Required Documents
Before you start your online application, ensure you have scanned copies (JPEG or PNG format, usually under 2MB) of the following:
For Nepalese Citizens (Applying from Nepal):
- Citizenship Certificate: Front and back sides.
- Passport: The main information pages (if applying for international purposes).
- Recent Photograph: A clear, passport-sized color photo with a plain background.
- Marriage Certificate: Required only if the applicant is married and their surname on the passport/citizenship differs.
For Nepalese Citizens (Applying from Abroad):
- Passport Pages: Scanned copies of pages 2, 3, and 31.
- Immigration Stamps: Scanned copy of the last departure stamp from Nepal Immigration.
- Citizenship Certificate: Front and back sides.
For Foreigners:
- Valid Passport: Scanned copy of the identity pages.
- Arrival/Departure Stamps: Copies of Nepal entry and exit stamps.
- Visa Copy: A copy of the valid visa if currently residing in Nepal.

Important Security Warning
The Nepal Police has issued a strict notice against fraud:
"Application for the Online Police Clearance Report is FREE."
- Do not pay anyone: If any person or agency asks for money to "expedite" your report, report them immediately.
- Contact for Help: If you face issues, call 100 or contact the Character Verification Section at +977-01-4412783 or 9851285920.
- Email Support: Send your queries to opcr@nepalpolice.gov.np.
Pro-Tip: Consular Attestation
If you need this report for a foreign embassy, you may also need to get it attested by the Department of Consular Services. This can also be initiated online via the Consular Services portal once you have your police report.
