Born on July 19, 1974, in Julana, Haryana, Rekha Gupta moved to Delhi in 1976 when her father, Jai Bhagwan Jindal, assumed the role of branch manager at the State Bank of India in Pitampura. Her mother, Urmila Jindal, was a homemaker. Gupta pursued her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Daulat Ram College under Delhi University and later earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from IMIRC College of Law Bhaina, Ghaziabad, affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, in 2022.
Political Career
Gupta's political journey commenced during her college years when she joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in 1992. She quickly rose through the ranks, serving as the General Secretary of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) in 1995 and as its President in 1996.
Her dedication to public service led her to the municipal arena, where she was elected as a Councillor from Uttari Pitampura (Ward 54) in both 2007 and 2012. During her tenure, she also served as the Mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), focusing on initiatives related to women's and children's welfare.
In the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Gupta contested from the Shalimar Bagh constituency and secured a decisive victory over Aam Aadmi Party's Bandana Kumari by a margin of 29,595 votes.

As she steps into the role of Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta is poised to address pressing challenges facing Delhi, including air and river pollution, and the enhancement of urban infrastructure. Her administration has pledged to revamp government schools, provide free health services, ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, and offer a monthly stipend to underprivileged women in the city.
Gupta's ascent to the Chief Minister's office is a testament to her unwavering commitment to public service and her deep-rooted connection with the community. Her leadership is anticipated to usher in a new era of development and inclusivily for Delhi's diverse populace.
